“Art Shay: An America So Real” is a full-length documentary presenting a vivid, street‑level view of the 20th century through the eyes of a man who captured not only a nation’s faces, but its struggles, contradictions, and an unflinching portrayal of its soul. Based on intimate interviews with Shay up to the last days of his life as well as with his family, contemporaries, historians, critics, and collectors, the documentary traces the extraordinary life of one of the most prolific photographers in U.S. history.
